Fossil

Fossil is the name of the third main expansion set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). It was released in Japan in 1997 as Mystery of the Fossils, with the English version being released as "Fossil" in 1999. This set features first-generation Pokémon (the first 151 Pokémon).

The trio of Legendary Birds (Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno) reigns supreme in Fossil, perfectly complemented by popular Pokémon like Dragonite and Gengar.

There is also an extremely rare print variant—the so-called non-cosmos print—which is identifiable because the holographic cards have a matte finish and the holo pattern (stars) on the texture is not visible, even when handled.

The Japanese version of Fossil contains 48 cards, while the English version contains 62 (similar to Jungle, the card count was increased by including non-holographic variants of the rare cards).
